Chant partnered with the Lac La Croix First Nation in the creation of the Ojibway Power and Energy Group ("OPEG").

OPEG's mandate is the development and operations of hydroelectric resources in the areas surrounding the Lac La Croix First Nation.

Two initial projects are currently underway to develop a total of 9.6MW on the Namakan River near the Lac La Croix First Nation in Northwestern Ontario.


Scope of Construction Activities:

The complete development, design and construction of two "run-of-the-river" hydroelectric generation stations on the Namakan River on the co-managed crown lands of the Lac La Croix First Nation in North Western, Ontario.

Major construction activities will include:

  • Site access roads and grubbing/clearing.
  • Dewatering powerhouse locations.
  • Construction of the powerhouses.
  • Construction of a overflow/weir structure.
  • Interconnection to Hydro One grid.
  • Commissioning of plants.
