Environmental Management < Back

Chant has developed, and implemented into its day to day operations, a corporate environmental management philosophy. Our approach to responsible interfacing with the environment on our projects is articulated in a detailed Environmental Managament Plan ("EMP"). Our EMP is designed to be compliant with ISO 14000 standards and defines our expectations of Project Teams with respect to establishing best environmental practices on our work, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations and the conditions of permits and approvals relative to a specific project.

The purpose of the EMP is threefold:

  1. To ensure that Chant and its Project Team have anticipated potential adverse environmental effects of the construction process and has prepared plans that will describe measures to be employed to prevent or mitigate the effect. This proactive attention to environmental concerns will facilitate approval of detailed construction plans (where required) and efficient construction of the work;

  2. To provide all our personnel with specific directions for environmental protection measures that will be applied both generically (sediment control procedures for example) and to address site-specific situations; and

  3. To communicate to our people specific expectations and provide specific guidance with respect to environmental management aspects that will impact construction planning and logistics, and with respect to the responsibilities for monitoring, contingency planning/response, environmental supervision and reporting.
